Last Night in Khab!

We've been packing and packing. It feels like we're moving. At least now we don't have all the gifts and food to carry. However, our suitcases are still full. Just in case our luggage doesn't make it again, we each put a change of clothes in our carry-on bags. We have made lots of good memories here and will always have a fondness for this city because it is Valerie's birthplace. That being said, IT'S TIME TO GO HOME!

Today Todd went and got Valerie's passport so she can travel now. She's never left this city and we're taking her halfway around the world! Her little picture looks so cute. Blaine and I went for a walk this afternoon and had a special time, just the two of us. It's different now sharing my time and attention between two kiddos. Different but good! Then Irina came and brought us our documents that we will need for the US Embassy in Moscow and our copies of her birth certificate, adoption decree, and Valerie's medical records.

Our supper wasn't so great as we were cleaning out the fridge getting rid of everything. It was a little of this and a little of that. I think we should have just ordered pizza. I've heard that we will really miss our kitchen in Moscow but right now I'm thinking eating out sounds great! Our flight leaves tomorrow at 1:30 and we arrive in Moscow at 2:55. Doesn't sound bad but it's actually an 8 hour flight. I'm a little apprehensive about the long flight with Valerie but I guess one way or another, after 8 hours, it will be over with! Until next Wednesday, when we have an even longer one. We are looking forward to seeing the sights in Moscow. I'll update again from there and post a picture of our little cutie!

The flights (from Khabarovsk and Moscow) will be long, but no matter how dreadful, they are but brief moments in your lives. Bring LOTS of snacks and be prepared to walk her up and down the plane aisle alot! Moscow is such a COOL city...try to get the required pic of Valerie and Blaine in front of St. Basil's Cathedral at Red Square, make sure to stop in at the McDonalds there (every child needs to go to an international MickeyD's) and hit up the shops at the marketplace on Old Arabat. Courtyard Marriott will seem like the Taj Mahal after the MarKuel, and the breakfast buffet, while criminally expensive, is well worth it at least once! Enjoy your time there and know you will soon be HOME!!! Our prayers go with you...

I bet ya'll are ready to see the flat lands of west Texas. We are praying for safe travel to Moscow and then back home. Valerie and Blaine are very blessed to have such awesome parents.

Praying for safe, happy, easy flights for you guys! Snacks are a toddler's best friend on a plane. Make sure too that she drinks something while the plane takes off...to keep her ears from hurting! Good luck!!! ~ Melea

It's exciting to get all the updates on your trip and pics. I can't wait to hear more.

If you need any last second help on your Russian, let me know as Hannah got a Russian language cd in her kid's meal at Chick-fil-a yesterday. :)
