On The Mend

We are beginning to feel good again. Poor Blaine had really high fever all night and kept throwing up. He slept almost all day today. His fever went back up this evening but he hasn't thrown up anymore. Hopefully, this bug will be gone tomorrow. It's about 9:30 pm here in Khabarovsk, the sun is still out and it seems like about 6:30. Everyone is asleep but me but I intend to be close behind!

Valerie and I got out this morning and walked to the grocery store to buy 7-UP for Blaine. She seems to like the stroller and kicks her legs the whole time. Todd took Valerie to the playground this evening because he was going stir crazy in the apartment all day long. Even Valerie wanted out. She'd put on her hat and go and stand by the door! Other than that, we've just hung out and played.

That Valerie is quite a character! She has the deepest, loudest laugh! She is getting very comfortable with us. In fact, comfortable enough to pitch a fit if things don't go exactly as she thinks they should. For the most part, she is so happy though! I think she is loving all the attention. We are loving giving it to her! Bathtime started out bad but ended up lots of fun. After she figured out she was ok, she splashed and played, then cried when it was time to get out! She is saying more and more sounds each day. She vocalizes all the time so I'm hoping once she gets used to hearing this strange language we speak she'll be communicating with us soon. This little Russian girl will have a west TX accent before we know it! Speaking of TX, it sounds like we're sure missing a heat wave back home. We are homesick for the peace and quiet of our place. It's noisy 24/7 here. But we are enjoying the cooler weather.
Please pray that Blaine will be feeling good again soon. It makes a Mama worry for her kiddo to get so sick in another country!

Our Dear Blaine, We are so sorry you and Mama and Daddy have been sick. I hope you get back to being well again today. We miss you so much. We know you are loving to be with Valerie. I can hardly wait to hear you two laugh together! You will have a lot of interesting things to tell us when you get home about Russia. Are the cartoons on TV as funny in Russian as they are in English? Are you learning to speak a little Russian? If you do, then you will know English, a little Spanish and a little Russian. Have fun and enjoy the rest of your vacation. Grama and Pa love you with all our hearts! XOXOXOXOXOXO

I'm glad you're all starting to feel better! Blaine, I hope you're a lot better today so you can go out and play with Valerie. Just think, in less than a week it will be your birthday. How cool that you get to celebrate it in Russia with your brand new sister!

It doesn't seem like Valerie misses the baby home, does it? I can picture her standing by the door in her hat. Such a cute visual!! Has she started eating any slower? I was thinking, maybe she just likes your cooking. You ARE a great cook! Just wait til she gets her hands on some Mexican food!

I wish it wasn't so long until you come home. I can't wait to see you again and meet Valerie! I love you all! Ginger
